Pentewan Parish Council Supports Sustainable Transport with Installation of Public EV Charging Points

Pentewan Valley Parish Council is proud to announce the installation of two new electric vehicle (EV) charging points in the Pay and Display public car park in Pentewan, now open and available for community use. This initiative reflects the Council’s commitment to meeting the needs of a growing number of electric vehicle users in the UK, especially in Pentewan where many residents lack private parking spaces suitable for home charging.

The new charging facility is designed to be as accessible as possible. No mobile app is required, users simply plug in and pay by contactless card or device. Usage of the charging points will be closely monitored, and the Council is prepared to install additional units if demand increases.

In a further effort to reduce Cornwall’s carbon footprint, all electricity supplied to the chargers comes from a zero-carbon energy provider. These additions are expected to benefit local residents and visitors alike, and the Parish Council anticipates that the new chargers will encourage more visitors to use local businesses by providing a convenient charging option.

The Parish Council also understands that Cornwall Council is planning to install additional EV chargers in the Square in the near future, further supporting the region’s move toward sustainable transport solutions.
